Recently, my wife and I suffered the loss of our baby at 16 weeks gestation.  Everything was fine - her blood sugars were great, her hormone levels were fine, the baby was doing well.  Then on the exciting and cheerful “determine the gender” ultrasound, she saw that the baby wasn’t moving, and told the doctor that the baby was dead - she knew it as soon as she saw the ultrasound screen.  He sent her to the hospital to confirm it.  The world ground to a halt, and it was so hard to believe.

We know how heartbreaking it is to hold such a tiny baby in our hands, knowing that we will never get to see him grow up, or even to walk, crawl, or laugh.  We named him Darren Jedidiah, because it means, “small, and great, and loved by God.”  We also know the struggle of caring for our other three children while we were coming to grips with the loss of the baby.  For those who have lost a child: If you need a listening ear, email comments@sahdsurvival.com.  We will read every email, and respond to as many as we can.

At SAHDsurvival.com, there is an atmosphere of triumph – you can handle it!  Whether “it” is something huge, like trying to cope with the death of a child, or something more mundane, like trying to get a certain stain out of your daughter’s shirt or taking care of a baby who’s spewing what looks to be pea soup, we’re here to help.

“I’m thinking of the dad who finds out that next week, his wife will be working and he will be the one at home. Very inclusive - you haven't left out anything. I am especially pleased to see that there are lots of recipes, and shopping lists. Bullet points, charts and quick forms make this easy to read.” -Jim M., NM

“Being a parent of a special-needs child is chaos. This… this has given us back our sanity.” -Justin L., TX

“Comprehensive. I like the cleaning hints. This program would be useful for both Dads and Moms, whether they work outside the home or not. Many folks will be interested in this info. The budget forms would be very good for them, too.” -Beverly M., NM

“I have never seen anything like this! It has everything I need to raise my daughter on my own.” -Allen S., CA

“Helping Dads Survive.”

Being a stay at home dad is a dream many fathers have.  Whether you’re a stay at home dad, a single dad, or married, this site is for you.   We are here to say, “Dads are parents, too!”  Some say that stay at home dads are “a different breed.”  Many people still don’t understand that fathers are more involved than ever, and it’s only normal for dads to want to spend time with their children.  The stay at home dad trend is growing, and soon will be a large segment of the population.
